Support

Install, run, and troubleshoot.

TopStart is simple, but the Mac sometimes wants a little help. Here is everything you need.

Requirements

What you need

  1. MacOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon
  2. the free Shortcuts app, built into MacOS

Install

Three quick steps

  1. Download the TopStart DMG and open it
  2. drag TopStart into your Applications folder
  3. open TopStart once, and allow Input Monitoring so your hotkeys work

First open

No warning needed

TopStart is notarized by Apple, so it opens with a normal double-click, with no "unidentified developer" warning, on MacOS 10.15 and later. If you downloaded from topstart.app or via the Lemon Squeezy checkout, you can trust the file.

TopStart is safe. It is a small utility that runs your shortcuts locally on your Mac; the only time it goes online is a one-time license check when you activate a key, and it sends just the key. You can inspect the source to verify nothing else is ever sent.

Updates

Keep it current

Use the Check for Updates item in the TopStart menu. Updates are delivered from topstart.app, and your license key covers them all, no extra charge.

Current version: TopStart 1.2.0 · September 2, 2026. See the full changelog.

Troubleshooting

Hotkeys or a shortcut not running

  1. Make sure Input Monitoring is allowed for TopStart in System Settings > Privacy & Security
  2. confirm the shortcut's name exactly matches what you pinned
  3. open the FAQ and the common questions before anything else
